Monday Night Writing – 17/6/13

SFU Total Word Count Last Week – 4838

SFU Total Word Count This Week – 5090

Words Achieved – 252

I’m not sure which is more depressing, last week’s lack of any additions or the paltry effort that this week has produced, I suppose the one upside is that at least this idea is working at least to some small degree.

After last week’s disappointment there was absolutely no way I was going to start today’s post with no increase what so ever, and I would make a safe bet that next week’s achievement will be a significant improvement if for no other reason than to stop the deep sense of embarrassment that I feel posting this today.

I have mentioned it in many other places, but my two main blockers from continuing are my lack of structure/plotting and my tendency for procrastination. Considering there have been 7 days since my last post it works out as a tragic 36 words a day, that’s what, one sentence?

I think that this week I need to put some real focus in to plotting the story out, even if it’s in a really basic way. I know what I had in mind when I first started this idea and I know one or two key points that I want to happen but frankly I am not entirely sure how, if at all, they fit together and that is what matters.

I’m somewhat nervous of doing so, both because I’m not entirely sure what the overall story  I want to tell is and I’m scared that in trying map out where Jezzrael and friends need to go ill realise that what I actually have is a couple cool (at least in my head) ideas but no real story, a bad guy whose sole motivation is to fit into a scene that I have created in my head and world not quite formed, and not ready for the people I want to inhabit it and that like my attempt at World Building previously it is just another form of procrastination.

Congratulations on getting something down. It’s better than last weeks total.

Dan Wells put together a great you tube video on plotting. It really helped me when I started with the end first.

    Check it out here:
