If you cant stand the heat…

As a generally rule I despise reality TV, apart from a small lapse in judgement during my time running a pub when  I, like the rest of the UK became unhealthy addicted to the antics of 11 “contestants” and one house I have stayed away from Reality and Fauxality TV shows.

The one exception to this is Hell’s Kitchen; I don’t know if it is my own experiences as a Chef giving me a level of empathy and understanding, or that fact that I simply love watching Gordon Ramsay berate people.

Whilst I was never a Chef of any note, during my time in the industry I worked in and run a number of different kitchens, everything from Little Chef to FISH!

I can relate to the stress and pressure that a kitchen places on you individually and collectively as a team and if I’m honest it’s not something I have experienced in any other job role.

I am constantly baffled by the attitudes of the contestants, the constant infighting, bitching and private vendettas that emerge and play out on the TV screen, if these people cared less about the popularity contest and getting their own back and more on working as a team and perhaps cooking they would find they would end up having to vote each other of a lot less.

At the same time If t wasn’t for the drama caused by the continual infighting, peppered with Gordon’s tirade of swearwords I guess we would just have Ready Steady Cook.
